Practical Memory Checkers for Stacks, Queues and Deques
نویسنده
چکیده
A memory checker for a data structure provides a method to check that the output of the data structure operations is consistent with the input even if the data is stored on some insecure medium. In 8] we present a general solution for all data structures that are based on insert(i; v) and delete(j) commands. In particular this includes stacks, queues, deques (double-ended queues) and lists. Here, we describe more time and space eecient solutions for stacks, queues and deques. Each algorithm takes only a single function evaluation of a pseudorandomlike function like DES or a collision-free hash function like MD5 or SHA for each push/pop resp. enqueue/dequeue command making our methods applicable to smart cards.

Resizable Arrays in Optimal Time and Space
We present simple, practical and eecient data structures for the fundamental problem of maintaining a resizable one-dimensional array, Al::l + n ? 1], of xed-size elements, as elements are added to or removed from one or both ends. Our structures also support access to the element in position i. All operations are performed in constant time. The extra space (i.e., the space used past storing th...
متن کاملLearning to Transduce with Unbounded Memory
Recently, strong results have been demonstrated by Deep Recurrent Neural Networks on natural language transduction problems. In this paper we explore the representational power of these models using synthetic grammars designed to exhibit phenomena similar to those found in real transduction problems such as machine translation. These experiments lead us to propose new memory-based recurrent net...
متن کاملSimple and Efficient Purely Functional Queues and Deques
We present purely functional implementations of queues and double-ended queues (deques) requiring only O(1) time per operation in the worst case. Our algorithms are considerably simpler than previous designs with the same bounds. The inspiration for our approach is the incremental behavior of certain functions on lazy lists.
متن کاملPermutations generated by stacks and deques
Lower and upper bounds are given for the the number of permutations of length n generated by two stacks in series, two stacks in parallel, and a general deque.
متن کاملChecking Linked Data Structures
In the program checking paradigm, the original program is run on the desired input, and its output is checked by another program called a checker. Recently, the notion of program checking has been extended from its original formulation of checking functions to checking a sequence of operations which query and alter the state of an object external to the program, e.g., checking the interactions ...
